To add a new Centrepay deduction, you'll need all of these:
- your service provider’s details including their name, ABN, or Centrelink Reference Number (CRN)
- your account reference with the service provider
- the amount you want deducted from your Centrelink payment
- the name of the Centrelink payment you want the deduction taken out of.
The screenshots in this guide are from a computer. The page layout will look different if you’re using a mobile device.
Step 1: get started
Sign in to myGov or the myGov app and select Centrelink.
From your homepage, select MENU in the bar at the top of the screen on the lefthand side.
From the dropdown menu select Payments and Claims, then select Manage payments and Manage deductions.
Step 2: add a new Centrepay deduction
Select Manage and add on the Deductions summary page.
Select Add deduction.
Information about the type of deductions you can add will show.
Select Begin.
Select Centrepay, then Next.
Step 3: choose a service provider
To choose a service provider from the dropdown menu, select either:
- a frequently used service provider
- None of these service providers to search for a new provider.
Using the dropdown menu
Select the name of a frequently used service provider from the list in the dropdown menu, then select Next. If the provider doesn’t show in the list, you’ll need to use the search option.
Using search
Select None of these service providers from the dropdown menu, then select Next.
Enter the service provider’s Name, ABN or CRN, then select Search.
A list of possible service providers that match the details entered will display. Select the correct service provider, then select Next.
Step 4: enter the details of your deduction
Select which payment you want the deduction taken out of, then Next.
Enter your Account Reference ID, then select Next.
You’ll need to contact your service provider if you don’t know your account reference ID number.
Enter how much you’d like to have taken out, then select Next.
Select One payment or Fortnightly for how often you’d like it to be taken out, then select Next.
From the dropdown menu select the date you’d like it to start, then select Next.
To finish adding the new deduction, select one of these:
- This deduction will continue to be taken out of your payment until you tell us to stop
- If you want the deduction to end soon please select an end date
- Enter a target amount and we will stop after that amount is reached.
Then select Next.
If you selected If you want the deduction to end soon please select an end date, you’ll need to add an end date. From the dropdown menu select the date you’d like the deduction to end, then select Next.
If you selected Enter a target amount and we will stop after that amount is reached, you’ll need to add a target amount. Enter a target amount we’ll stop the deductions at when it is reached, then select Next.
Select Continue to save your changes and proceed.
Step 5: review and submit
Select Continue to review a summary of the details you’ve provided.
Check the details on the page and make sure they’re correct.
If the details are:
- wrong, select Edit to make changes
- correct, select Next.
Read the declaration. If you understand and agree with the declaration, select I have read and agree with the above conditions, then select Submit.
Get your receipt
We’ll give you a Receipt ID for adding a deduction. Make a note of this number for your records.
You don’t need to contact us about your deduction unless we ask you to.
You should check with your service provider when you make your first Centrepay deduction to make sure, they got it.
Select:
- Information you provided to view a summary of the details you’ve given us.
- Save your receipt to keep a copy of your receipt.
Select Return home to go back to the Deductions summary page.
Managing your deductions
Select Manage and add to view your current deductions.
Select Manage for the current deduction you added.
The Manage deduction page shows the full details of the deduction. Select Home to go back to your online account homepage.
Step 6: sign out
From your homepage, you can complete other transactions or select Return to myGov to return to your myGov account.
For your privacy and security, sign out when you’ve finished using your myGov account.
