Step 1: get started
Sign into myGov and select Centrelink.
Select MENU from your homepage.
To update your payment choice for Family Tax Benefit select My family, then Family assistance and Payment choices for Family Tax Benefit.
Step 2: update your FTB payment choice
Select the Update icon for the financial year you wish to update. From April to June you can update both the current and next financial year payment choices.
Select the Edit icon for the Payment type you wish to update. Read more about payment choices for Family Tax Benefit.
Select your new payment choice from the options, then select Next. You may be overpaid if you don’t choose the recommended payment choice. If you’re paid too much, you’ll have to pay any excess amount back. We’ll let you know if this happens.
Select Continue
The status of Updated will display on the left hand side of the payment choice that has been updated. You can select Edit to change your payment choice for another Payment type or select Next to continue the update.

Step 3: review and submit
Select Begin to review your changes.
Confirm your changes. Read the information and if all the details are correct select Next.
Before you submit the update, you must read the declaration. If you understand and accept the declaration, select I have read and agree with the above conditions, then Submit.
Step 4: receipt and next steps
We’ll give you a Receipt ID when you submit your update. You can select Save your receipt to save a copy.
You can select family income estimate to update your estimate or select Return home to go back to your homepage.
If you get Child Care Subsidy, you may need to update your activity test. Read more about how to update your activity test.
Step 5: sign out
From your homepage, you can complete other transactions or select Return to myGov to go back to your myGov account.
For your privacy and security, sign out when you’ve finished using your myGov account.
