More support announced for North Queensland Rainfall and Flooding, December 2025 to February 2026

More financial support will be available from 2 pm local time on 24 March 2026 for people affected by the rainfall and flooding in North Queensland that started on 24 December 2025.

Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA)

DRA has been announced for people who have lost some or all of their income because of this disaster. Claims will open at 2 pm local time on 24 March 2026.

You must earn less than the average Australian weekly income of $2011.40 before tax after this income loss, and live or work in one of the following Local Government Areas:

  • Aurukun
  • Barcaldine
  • Burdekin
  • Cassowary Coast
  • Central Highlands
  • Isaac
  • Livingstone
  • Mackay
  • Palm Island
  • Pormpuraaw
  • Townsville
  • Whitsunday
  • Yarrabah.
