Medicare online account help - Update your personal details

Instructions on how to update your address and contact details using your Medicare online account, or Express Plus Medicare mobile app.

You need to tell us if your address or contact details change. Your contact details include your phone number and email address.

The screenshots in this guide are from a computer. The screen layout will look different if you’re using a mobile device.

Step 1: sign in

Sign in to myGov and select Medicare.

If you’re using the app, open it and enter your myGov PIN.

On your homepage, select Update now from My details.

Step 2: update your details

Go to the details you want to update, then select Edit. In this example we’ll update the postal address.

We’ll display information about how we can help people affected by family and domestic violence.

Select the link or select Close.

Your postal address links to your Medicare card. If you update your postal address online, we’ll update it for everyone on your Medicare card. If your new postal address doesn’t apply to everyone on your card, you need to get a new Medicare card.

In this example we’ll update the postal address for everyone on the Medicare card.

Select Yes, followed by Next.

Enter your new details, then select Save address.

A success message will confirm your details have been updated. To return to the My details window, select Close.

To update other contact details, repeat Step 2 and apply the instructions to the other contact details you need to update.

You may need to update your residential address, phone numbers, bank details or email address.

To return to your homepage, select Home.

Step 3: sign out

From your homepage you can complete other transactions or select Return to myGov to go back to your myGov account.

For your privacy and security, sign out when you’ve finished using your myGov account.
