How to manage your payment
If you get Child Care Subsidy, you have an ongoing responsibility to keep your information up to date.
You can do this by regularly checking your details are correct.
You need to tell us if:
- your family’s income changes
- your or your partner’s activity levels change
- your relationship status changes
- there are any other changes to your or your partner’s circumstances.
We need accurate information about your family circumstances to pay you the correct amount. We may overpay you if we don’t have accurate and up to date details. If this happens, you’ll have to pay back the amount you owe.
Keep in mind, some things may affect your Child Care Subsidy amount. These include if:

If your family earns more than $190,015 we’ll cap your subsidy.
If your family earns more than $354,305 you won’t get any subsidy.
We pay both the subsidy and Family Tax Benefit (FTB) based on your family income estimate. The higher your estimate is, the less subsidy and FTB you’ll get.
If you start using more child care, you may reach the annual Child Care Subsidy cap more quickly.
We may pay Child Care Subsidy (CCS) if you’re charged for child care when your child is absent.
When you enrol your child in an approved child care service, you need to give them some information.
There are rules about whether you can get your Child Care Subsidy when you travel outside Australia. The rules also apply to your Additional Child Care Subsidy.
We compare your income estimate with your actual income at the end of each financial year. This is how we check you got the right amount.
