Child Support online account help - Request employer deductions

Instructions on how to request employer deductions using your Child Support online account.

If your payments are collected by us, you can request to have your payments deducted from your salary or wages.

Before you start, make sure you have your employer details, including the following:

  • employer name or trading name
  • employer contact number
  • Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • business address.

Step 1: get started

Sign in to myGov or the myGov app and select Child Support.

From the menu, select Payments then Request employer deductions.

Step 2: update employer and employment details

Read the information on this page to help you complete your update, the select Begin.

On the Eligibility page, use the dropdown menu to select your employment status, then select Next.

You can select from the following options:

  • Full time
  • Full time on commission only
  • Part time or casual
  • Contractor or subcontractor
  • Employment not yet started.

On the Employer details page, enter the information we need about your employer.

If you need help finding the Australian Business Number (ABN), you can use ABN lookup on the Australian Business Register website.

Start typing the address. If it does not appear, select Enter address manually.

Once you’ve answered all of the questions, select Next.

Step 3: review and submit

We’ll provide a summary of your details. Select Edit Eligibility or Edit Employer details, if you need to change your details.

Select from the following:

  • Cancel if you no longer want to request an employer deduction
  • Save and exit if you want to save your progress and come back later
  • Next to continue.

Read the information and declaration. If you understand and agree with the declaration, select I have read, understood and accept the declaration.

Select Submit.

Step 4: receipt

When you submit your request, we’ll give you a receipt. Make a note of the Receipt ID for your records.

Select any of the following:

  • Save receipt to keep a PDF copy of your receipt
  • Make a payment if you need to make any child support payments
  • Return Home to go back to your online account homepage.

Step 5: sign out

From your homepage, you can complete other transactions or select Return to myGov to go back to your myGov account.

For your privacy and security, sign out when you have finished using your myGov account.
