ABSTUDY Away from Base Assistance for education providers
Help to support ABSTUDY students attend activities needing them to travel away from their home or study location for short periods.
The activity must be a necessary part of the student’s approved course. We call these activities away from base activities.
Away from Base Assistance helps you cover both the:
- student's travel costs to attend an away from base activity under ABSTUDY Fares Allowance
- reasonable costs of the student’s accommodation and meals while they’re away from their home or normal study location.

To get Away from Base Assistance, you, the student and the planned away from base activity must meet certain criteria.
The amount of Away from Base Assistance you can get depends on the costs involved in the activity. It also depends on how you arrange the activity.
