Asset hardship provisions
We may stop, reject or reduce your payment because of the assets test. If this is the case, you may be able to apply under the asset hardship provisions.
Rural customers and primary producers
Some rural properties and farms have more than one title or larger blocks than residential properties. The asset test rules are different for these properties.
Granny flat interest
A granny flat interest is an agreement for accommodation for life. It can affect your eligibility or rate of payment and we may include it in your assets test.
Private trusts and companies
If you’re part of a private trust or company, we need to know your share of the income and assets.
Help in your language
We can help you with translated information or you can talk to a service officer who speaks your language.
Income maintenance period
This waiting period may apply if you or your partner have stopped work and got leave or redundancy payments.
Meeting participation requirements if you’re under 35
You may have participation requirements if you get Disability Support Pension (DSP). This is to help you find and keep suitable work.
Overdrawn bank account
You can get help to access your money if you have an overdrawn bank account.
Approved courses and education providers
You must study an approved course at an approved education provider to get Youth Allowance, Austudy, or Pensioner Education Supplement.
Program of Support for Disability Support Pension
You may need to participate in a Program of Support before you claim Disability Support Pension (DSP).
