JobSeeker Payment

Financial help if you’re between 22 and Age Pension age and looking for work. It’s also for when you’re sick or injured and can’t do your usual work or study for a short time.

We’re processing transfers to Parenting Payment Single (PPS)

Your PPS transfer should show in your Centrelink online account by 25 September 2023.

If you haven’t been transferred by this date, you can contact our Centrelink families line.

JobSeeker Payment replaced Newstart Allowance when it stopped in March 2020.

To get this payment you need to meet some rules. These include:

  • you’re between 22 and Age Pension age
  • you meet the income and assets tests
  • you meet residence rules.

JobSeeker Payment may affect the child support payments you make or receive. You need to tell us if your income changes.

To find out the full conditions and if this payment is right for you, read who can get it.

The rate of JobSeeker Payment for some customers increased from 20 September 2023. This means you may get a partial increase in your first payment after this date, and the full increase after that.

This is in addition to the Consumer Price Indexation (CPI) increase on the same date.
