You don’t need to report your or your partner’s income if both of the following apply:
- you get either Age Pension or Disability Support Payment (DSP) because you’re permanently blind
- you don’t get Rent Assistance.
If your partner is getting a payment from us, they’ll still need to report your income. They won’t need to report if they’re also blind, getting Age Pension or DSP and not getting Rent Assistance.
Scheduled reporting
If you’re working for an employer, you’ll have scheduled reporting. Scheduled reporting is where you need to report your income in a set reporting period.
Your reporting period is usually 14 days, and we tell you when it starts and ends. You need to do this on the date we tell you to. This is called your reporting date.
Each time you report we’ll tell you what your next reporting date is. You need to report by 5 pm on your reporting date to make sure we can pay you on time.
You can’t report before your reporting date unless it’s on a public holiday. We’ll tell you if you need to report on a different day.
Unscheduled reporting
If your employment income changes, you need to tell us within 14 days. We call this unscheduled reporting, as it can happen any time.
You can use your Centrelink online account or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app to do any of the following:
- tell us if you start or stop working
- update your ongoing employment income if it changes.
You can do this if you get any of these:
- ABSTUDY
- Age Pension
- Austudy
- Carer Payment
- Disability Support Pension
- Parenting Payment
- Youth Allowance as a full-time student.
You must tell us about any changes to your income or assets within 14 days.
Reporting late
If you report late, your payment could be late. If you don’t report on your reporting date, we won’t pay you.
You can report online up to 14 days after your reporting date. If you do, we’ll pay you after you’ve reported.
If you’re more than 14 days late, you won’t be able to report online, and you’ll need to call us on your regular payment line.
Starting or stopping work
If you start working and get one of the following payments, you need to let us know so you can start scheduled reporting. You also need to let us know if you stop working.
- ABSTUDY Living Allowance
- Age Pension
- Austudy
- Carer Payment
- Parenting Payment Single and Partnered
- Youth Allowance as a Student.
If you’ve linked your Centrelink online account to myGov you can tell us online.
You can also use the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.
You must call your regular payment line to tell us when you start or stop working if you either:
- get a different payment from us
- have a partner who gets Disability Support Pension.
