How to report

You can report your employment income in different ways.

You can report your income online or by phone. Do this by 5 pm on your reporting date.

When you report, you need to report for the whole reporting period including the first and last days.

You need to report the full amount of your pay in your reporting period, this is usually every 2 weeks. For example, if you’re paid monthly, you need to report the gross amount for the month in the reporting period that you get your pay in.

In reporting periods where you don’t get a pay, you’ll still need to report and let us know that you had no income. You don’t need to spread your income across two reporting periods.

You can get reminders to report to make sure you report on time. Find out about reminders to report.

Reporting online

If your Centrelink online account is linked to myGov, you can report through myGov. You can also see your reporting dates 12 weeks in advance.

Sign in to myGov

You can also use the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.

If we pre-fill information for you it’s important you check it before you submit your report. Find out about pre-filled information.

Our reporting employment income online guide can help you use your online account to report.

Reporting by phone

Call the Centrelink reporting line or your regular payment line to report. We can help you create a voiceprint to prove your identity faster when you call us.

If you still get report forms by post, you can call our Centrelink Employment Services Line.

If you’re reporting from outside Australia, you can call our Centrelink international services line.

Correcting a mistake

If you make a mistake when you report, you can fix it.

You’ll need to upload evidence of changes to pre-filled income that you already confirmed. This could be a new payslip.

If your Centrelink online account is linked to myGov, you can do this through myGov.

You can also use the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.

You must tell us as soon as you can if you’ve made a mistake. Don’t wait until your next reporting day to tell us.

If you tell us you’ve made a mistake we may need some more details. This is to make sure we’re paying you the right amount. We’ll let you know if we need more information from you.

You can’t fix a mistake online for a reporting period more than 6 fortnights in the past. You’ll need to call us on your regular payment line.

Letting someone report for you

Someone close to you, or an organisation, can report for you. You’ll need to tell us if you want to set them up as a nominee.
