You can apply to complete a placement at Services Australia.

Registrations are closed for 2025 university student placements.

We will have placements available for semesters 1 and 2, as well as trimesters 1 and 2 in 2026 and beyond.

During your university student placement, you’ll get a chance to develop your skills while working on a variety of tasks. You’ll gain a greater understanding of our agency and the public service.

University student placements are unpaid and count towards academic credits.

Placements are primarily offered in metropolitan cities, with limited options in rural areas. All placements and locations are subject to availability.

Social work

If you want to complete a social work placement with us, please discuss this directly with your university placement coordinator.

Social work placements are only accepted for students currently studying a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work.
