Our university paid internships are open to law university students based in Canberra in their final or second-last year of study. You’ll get hands-on experience in a government agency while working on real projects that support Australians. You’ll gain valuable experience while making a difference.
Our internships run full-time for 8 weeks in Canberra, from 10 November 2025 to 30 January 2026.

Who can apply
To apply for our internship you must be all of the following:
- be an Australian citizen
- be willing to work in Canberra during the internship
- be able to get and keep an Australian Government security clearance
- complete any required police, health or other checks.
You’re eligible if you’re:
- a university student in your final or second-last year, with 6 to 24 months of study left from the intake date
- a Canberra student, bachelor or above, full-time or part-time
- achieving a minimum average mark of 60.
What you’ll work on
Interns work in roles matched to their field of study.
You might:
- research and analyse information
- prepare documents for review
- respond to questions and escalate complex issues
- apply procedures and protocols
- support stakeholder relationships.

- listen actively and clarify meaning
- work transparently and respectfully.
