Our Workplace belonging strategy 2025 to 2029 is our commitment to being an inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated and everyone feels a sense of belonging.
We’ve taken meaningful steps to build a positive workplace where everyone feels safe, respected and valued.

How we support diversity and inclusion at Services Australia
We value our staff for their unique qualities, ideas and insights. People bring a range of skills and perspectives to the workplace. This may be due to gender, race, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex status or other differences.
We value inclusion and diversity and support our staff to reach their full potential. Our Workplace belonging strategy 2025 to 2029, policies and initiatives define how we do all the following:
- support flexible working arrangements such as part time work and flexible hours
- provide training for staff including Indigenous Cultural Awareness, Disability Awareness and Mental Health First Aid
- support women as an accredited Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace and give women the space, time and support to breastfeed or express at work
- support our LGBTQIA+ staff with inclusive HR policies
- celebrate days and events to promote diversity awareness and inclusion
- support diversity specific employee networks for staff to connect and share their views, experiences and information.
Our achievements
We’re proud of our achievements, which include:
- being one of the largest employers of people with disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the APS
- having delivered the Multiculturalism: Our Stories program, to over 25,000 staff
- having achieved Platinum tier status in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) Survey, a national benchmark on LGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion
- having recruited over 140 neurodivergent people through our Aurora Neuroinclusion Program with a 98% retention rate in 2024-25 financial year
- being recognised with multiple awards in the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI) and Techdiversity Awards for our inclusion initiatives
- being re-accredited as a breastfeeding workplace with the Australian Breastfeeding Association and awarded breastfeeding friendly workplace best practice standard.
