You need to have a Medicare online account and myGov account to use the app. If you don’t have a Medicare online account and myGov account, you’ll need to set them up.
You’ll then need to link your Medicare online account to myGov. If you need help, read the myGov online help guides.
Downloading the app
When you’ve got your Medicare online account linked to your myGov account, you can download and use the app.
Set up the app
To set up the app, you need either:
- An Apple device operating iOS 12 or above
- An Android device operating 6 or above.
To download to an iPad, search for iPhone only in the App Store.
The app works more effectively with your device when you give permission to use and access your data. We don’t use this information for other purposes.
If you use the app on a new device, you’ll need to sign in using your myGov details. After you do this, you can continue to use the same myGov PIN as on your previous device.
You can set up the app by following these steps:
- Select Sign in.
- Read and accept the Express Plus Medicare mobile app Terms of use.
- Sign in to your myGov account.
- Create your 4 digit myGov PIN. If you have previously logged into the app on another device using a 4 digit PIN, you will see a message telling you to use that PIN number next time you log in.
Don’t set a PIN that’s easy for people to guess, like your date of birth. We recommend your PIN is different to other PINs you use.
You’ll use your myGov PIN every time you sign in to the app.
The app will sign you out if you haven’t used it for 15 minutes.

Protecting your privacy
For your safety, you shouldn’t store your myGov PIN on your mobile device.
If you think someone else has used your details without your knowledge, call the Medicare program. We’ll talk you through the next steps.
You can change your myGov PIN to stop access to your Express Plus Medicare app. You can change your myGov PIN in your:
- Express Plus Medicare app by selecting Forgot PIN
- myGov Account settings by selecting myGov PIN and following the steps.
You can also cancel your Medicare online account at any time.
