Health services

If you have a valid visa, you may be able to use Medicare services for health care.

Medicare

Medicare services make going to a doctor cheaper or free. With Medicare you can also get some medicines cheaper.

Medicare is available for refugees, humanitarian entrants and eligible asylum seekers.

We’ll enrol you in Medicare if you’re eligible.

For help with Medicare, you can call the Medicare program line. Let us know if you need an interpreter and we’ll arrange one for free.

Concession cards

If you’re a refugee, you may get concession and health care cards. These can help lower the cost of health care even more. We’ll let you know if you’re eligible.

Vaccinations

Everyone in Australia can get a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination for free. Read more about COVID-19 vaccines on the Department of Health and Aged Care website.

If you’ve had vaccinations overseas, a health professional can record them in the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).

Find out how to add overseas immunisations to the AIR. You’ll need to provide proof of each one.
