Claim for King Island and the Furneaux Group goods

How to claim Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme financial assistance for goods you’ve shipped intrastate between King Island or the Furneaux Group and Tasmania.

You must have been approved as an eligible claimant before you submit a claim for goods. Find out how to register.

You must submit your claim for the Tasmanian Freight Equalisations Scheme (TFES) within 6 months of the date of your intrastate shipment.

Making an intrastate claim

You can claim most intrastate shipments if the goods are eligible intrastate goods and you incur and pay the shipping costs.

Claiming as a manufacturer or miner

In some cases, if you’re an approved manufacturer or miner based on King Island or in the Furneaux Group, you must register the goods you want to claim before you submit your claim.

You can do this by completing the TFES - King Island and Furneaux Group intrastate component - Manufacturers’ and Miners’ application for approval of items form.

You must also provide:

Submitting your claim

You can claim TFES either online or with a form.

If you don’t submit your claim and supporting documents correctly, we may reject it.

Online

You can submit your claim online in the Centrelink Business Online System (CBOS). Select ‘KIFG claim’ as the claim type.

To do this, you’ll need your CBOS logon ID and password. You can find these in the email we sent you when you register for TFES.

You will need to enter commodity codes for the goods you are shipping in your online claim.

When you submit your claim, you’ll also need to include supporting documents.

Form

If you can’t submit an online claim, you can complete a form. To do this, you can download and fill in the TFES - Claim for Assistance - domestic goods form.

You’ll also need to include supporting documents.

You can submit your form by email to tfes.support@servicesaustralia.gov.au

Assessing your claim

We’ll send you a letter telling you the outcome of your claim. You can also view the outcome of your claim in your online account.

If it’s approved, we’ll tell you how much assistance you’ll get. We’ll put this amount into your nominated bank account. Your online account will provide a breakdown of the amount paid for each shipment claimed.

If it’s rejected, we’ll tell you why.

If you have questions about your claim outcome, you can call our Tasmanian Transport Schemes team for more information.

You can also ask us to review our decision. If you do, you’ll need to include certain information. This is detailed on the back of the letter we’ll send you.
