Your brood mares may be eligible for the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme (TFES) if:
- they’re based in Tasmania, or
- they’re based on King Island or the Furneaux Group.
You can also get assistance for foals if they are eligible.
Tasmanian based brood mares
To get assistance under TFES your brood mares must:
- be Tasmanian based
- have been shipped to mainland Australia for servicing
- have returned to Tasmania after servicing.
You can get TFES assistance for both legs of a round trip.
King Island or Furneaux Group based brood mares
To get assistance under TFES your brood mares must:
- be based on either King Island or the Furneaux Group
- have been shipped to the mainland of Tasmania for servicing.
- Have returned to their base location following servicing.
You can get TFES assistance for both legs of a round trip.
Foals
You can get assistance under TFES for foals if they are:
- shipped from the Australian mainland to Tasmania
- shipped from the Tasmanian mainland to either King Island or the Furneaux Group
- less than 6 months old at the time of shipment
- born from eligible brood mares.
