New Zealand Disaster Recovery Allowance (NZ DRA) was financial support if you had lost income as a direct result of this disaster.
To get NZ DRA you had to meet all eligibility rules, including working or living in one of the following declared areas. You can find all eligibility rules by checking who can get it.
The claiming period for New Zealand Disaster Recovery Allowance closed on 7 October 2026 for the following Local Government Areas (LGAs):
- Ashburton
- Carnarvon
- Exmouth
- Shark Bay
- Upper Gascoyne
- Yalgoo.
Late claims can only be accepted in exceptional circumstances. To claim call the Emergency information line.

You may also be eligible for New Zealand Disaster Recovery Payment. If you’re eligible, you can get both New Zealand Disaster Recovery Payment and NZ DRA.
