Set up or cancel an acting arrangement

How you set up or cancel a Centrelink acting arrangement depends on what type it is.

The way you set up or cancel a Centrelink acting arrangement depends on the type of arrangement.

Nominee arrangements

You can represent a customer as a correspondence nominee, a payment nominee, or both.

Setting up

Setting up a nominee acting arrangement is a joint process between you and the person you will represent.

There are a couple of ways to set up this arrangement.

Online

If you both have a Centrelink account linked to myGov, the person you will represent can submit a request online.

Once they complete this, a nominee request will be sent to you. You need to respond to this request within 14 days.

For help, read our online guide on how to respond to a nominee request.

We’ll send a letter to both of you when the acting arrangement is in place.

If either of you don’t have an online account, you can create an account.

Form

You can set up a nominee arrangement using the Authorising a person or organisation to enquire or act on your behalf form. Send it to us using the instructions on the form.

If you’re an individual you need to prove your identity by showing us photo identification at a service centre or agent or access point. This could be a current Australian driver licence or passport.

We’ll send a letter to both you and the person you represent when the acting arrangement is in place.

If you’re part of an organisation, you need a Provider Digital Access (PRODA) account to access nominee online services.

We can verify your organisation’s details using this account.

For more information, go to PRODA.

Cancelling

You can cancel an arrangement at any time by completing the Cancel nominee arrangement form.

We’ll send a letter to both you and the person you represented when an acting arrangement is cancelled.

Person permitted to enquire or update arrangements

As a person or organisation permitted to enquire you can talk to us about a customer’s payments and services. You can’t make updates.

As a person or organisation permitted to update you can talk to us and make some updates to a customer’s payments and services.
