Payment rates on a pension or an allowance
If you're on a pension or an allowance the Energy Supplement amount you get depends on your and your partner’s circumstances and the payment or services you get.
If you get a pension
If you get a pension, your fortnightly amount of Energy Supplement depends on if you’re single or have a partner. You’ll get the following amount of Energy Supplement if you get either:
- Age Pension
- Carer Payment
- Disability Support Pension – if you are 22 or older.

If you get an allowance
If you get an allowance, your fortnightly amount of Energy Supplement depends on if you’re single or have a partner. You’ll get the following amount of Energy Supplement if you get either:

single, with dependent children | $9.50 |
single, 60 and over, after 9 continuous months on payment | $9.50 |
partnered | $7.90 |
single principal carer, exempt from mutual obligations | $12.00 |
single, Age Pension age and over | $14.10 |
partnered, Age Pension age and over | $10.60 |
Payment options
If you get one of these, you’ll usually get Energy Supplement fortnightly. We pay it with your regular payment. You may also be able to get Energy Supplement quarterly.
You can change how often you get your payment at any time by calling us on your regular payment line.
