How it works

If you agree, your community housing organisation or supported accommodation provider will use the EVoR service to update and verify your rent details with us.

Before a housing provider can use the EVoR service to update and verify your rent details with us, you must do both of the following:

  1. give us proof of your rental arrangements to get Rent Assistance
  2. contact your housing provider and ask if they use the EVoR service.

If they use the EVoR service

Your housing provider can update and verify your rent details with us. They can use it each time there is a change in your rent.

Giving consent

Before your housing provider can update or verify your rent details with us they must get your consent. Consent is voluntary and it is your choice to give your consent.

They may ask for your consent verbally, in writing or online.

After you give your consent, they’ll verify and update your rent amount details with us using the EVoR service. We’ll then send you a letter letting you know when we have updated your rent amount details.

Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw your consent at any time. You can do this by telling your housing provider or us. You don’t have to give a reason for withdrawing your consent.

If you withdraw your consent, you will need to provide proof of your rent details another way. This is so we can pay you the right amount of Rent Assistance.

Tell us about changes

Housing providers can only tell us about changes to your rent amount. You still need to both:

If they don’t use the EVoR service

If they don’t use the EVoR service, you’ll need to verify your rent details with us another way. You’ll also need to tell us about any rent changes yourself.
