Check eligibility for sporting or entertainment goods

Your sporting or entertainment goods must meet some rules for you to get financial assistance with your freight costs through the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme.

Your sporting or entertainment goods may be eligible for the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme (TFES) if both of the following apply:

  • you’ll use them in an entertainment or sporting event
  • you or your talent manager has incurred and paid the freight costs.

Eligible goods may include but aren’t limited to the following:

  • sideshow equipment
  • sound equipment
  • racing cars
  • horses.

To get assistance under TFES your goods must be shipped on a round trip over the following routes:

  • between Tasmania and mainland Australia
  • between the Tasmanian mainland and King Island or the Furneaux Group.

You can only get TFES for the return leg of a round trip and only if the round trip is completed within 6 months. The goods on the return leg must be the same as those on the first leg.

Goods that aren’t eligible

TFES only applies to eligible goods you send by sea.

Examples of goods that aren’t eligible under TFES are:

  • living accommodation
  • personal cars
  • other items for personal use.
