If you don’t understand or agree with a decision we’ve made about your application to become an authorised nurse prescriber and get a prescriber number, there are things you can do:
- You can ask for an explanation.
- You can apply for a review.
Your decision outcome letter or notification will tell you when you can apply for a review of a decision we have made.
If you have questions or want more information about a decision we’ve made, you can call us for an explanation at any time. We may be able to sort out your concerns without needing to apply for a review.
To contact us for an explanation of a decision, you can call the Medicare Provider Registration line and speak to a staff member.
You may want to apply for a review of a decision if you understand our decision but disagree with it. You don’t have to ask for an explanation first.
You must apply in writing for a review of a decision we’ve made. Your decision outcome letter or notification will tell you what you need to do and other important information you need to know when applying for a review.
You don’t have to pay for a review of a decision.
Your written request must include:
- your Ahpra or professional body registration number
- a copy of the decision outcome notification
- the reason for your request for a review of a decision
- supporting documentation to be considered relating to the original application
- contact telephone number.
The ART is an independent tribunal. They can change decisions but only according to the law. Usually, they can only review a decision after an agency has reviewed the decision.
