Who can get it

You may be eligible for Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement if you or your partner have a baby or a child comes into your care.

You may be eligible in the following situations:

You won't be eligible if either:

  • your partner has already got these payments for the child
  • you or your partner has got Parental Leave Pay for the child.

If you get Dad and Partner Pay, you may still be eligible for Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement.

Approved care organisations

Approved care organisations, such as foster or adoption agencies, provide residential care for young people.

They aren’t eligible for these payments.
