Who can get Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement

You may be eligible in the following situations:

you have a baby
a child comes into your care
you adopt a child.

You won’t be eligible if either:

your partner has already got these payments for the child
you or your partner has got Parental Leave Pay for the child.

Approved care organisations are also not eligible for these payments. These are for organisations such as foster or adoption agencies, that provide residential care for young people.

You have a baby

If you have a baby, you may be eligible to get Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement.

A child comes into your care

If a child comes into your care, for example, through foster care, you may be eligible for Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement.

You adopt a child

If you're adopting a child, you may be eligible for Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement.
