Students, you can apply for a SSL now. You can take out this loan up to twice a year if you’re getting an eligible student payment.
The SSL is a voluntary and tax-free loan that helps with study supplies, travel costs, and living expenses.
You can borrow $1,349 up to twice a year if you’re eligible and getting Youth Allowance, Austudy or ABSTUDY Living Allowance.
You’ll need to pay back the amount you borrow plus any extra charges like indexation.
This amount can add up over time.
