Review of home care fees

From 1 November 2025, the Support at Home program replaced the Home Care Packages program.

The final monthly claim for Home Care Packages and review of home care fees was in October 2025. Learn more about Support at Home on the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing website.

Home care fees were reviewed every month to:

  • look at changes to a care recipient’s personal or financial circumstances
  • set the care recipient’s fees for the month
  • work out if the care recipient should get any refunds
  • adjust the government subsidy you’re paid as a result of any changes.

Fees were updated in line with regular Consumer Price Index (CPI) changes each year on:

  • 20 March
  • 1 July
  • 20 September.

Final review of home care fees

The final home care fee reviews were completed on 21 October 2025.

Once the final review has been completed, we’ll send a letter to the care recipient, their nominee if they have one and to you, the provider, if either:

  • a refund is due
  • the new income-tested care fees for the month increased by 10 cents or more per day or decreased by 1 cent or more per day.

We won’t send letters if the only change is the basic daily fee.

If a refund is payable to a care recipient, we pay the refund to you. This is part of the normal claim process. You must pass this refund on to your care recipient.
