If you don’t understand or agree with a decision we have made, contact us on 1800 777 653. We’ll explain the reasons for the decision and discuss your options. Only the injured person or their authorised representative can request a formal review of a charge amount. We’re unable to disclose specific details of the services listed on the Notice of past benefits (NOPB) or Notice of charge (NOC).

Centrelink Compensation Recovery

Centrelink Compensation Recovery recovers compensation related payments in a different way to Medicare

If the injured person receives a Centrelink payment, the compensation payment could affect the amount of income support they’re entitled to and there may be a recovery.

Centrelink clearance

You may need to wait for Centrelink clearance before making the compensation payment to the injured person.

Child Support Program

The Child Support Program may take action under legislation to recover or request information related to compensation payments.

Release of money

Section 72A of the Child Support (Registration and Collection) Act 1988, allows the Child Support Program to issue a notice to the agency for the garnishee of money being held on behalf of the injured person.

Release of information

Section 120 of the Child Support (Registration and Collection) Act 1988, allows the Child Support Program to request details in respect of an injured person or claimant from Services Australia.
