Know your obligations as a Centrepay registered business

Published: 16 June 2025

Registered Centrepay businesses must comply with the Centrepay Policy and Terms. This includes refunding overpayments back to your customers.

You should monitor customer in-store accounts to check a positive balance isn’t the result of an overpayment.

As a Centrepay registered business, if you’re aware of an overpayment, you must:

  • notify the customer as soon as possible
  • notify us
  • make a refund to the customer.

For more information on managing your business with Centrepay, go to Policy, Terms and Guides on the Services Australia website.
