Documents you need if you’re covered by a Ministerial Order

You need to provide documents that prove your identity and travel status.

You can enrol in Medicare if you hold a valid temporary visa under a Ministerial Order. You’ll need to give us both of these documents:

  • a current passport, travel document or ImmiCard for each person you want to enrol
  • proof of a valid visa from the Department of Home Affairs.

Call the Medicare general enquiries line to extend your enrolment. You’ll need to prove your identity over the phone.

If you can’t prove your identity over the phone, you can mail or email your Medicare enrolment form and supporting documents to Medicare Enrolment Services.

You don’t need to get your documents certified.
