Your options and obligations for Special Benefit.
Mutual obligation requirements are tasks and activities you agree to do while getting certain payments from us. Penalties apply if you don’t meet them.
If you get Special Benefit and can’t work or study for a short time you may need to give us a medical certificate.
We'll assess the impact of your disability, illness, injury or other barriers to work.
We review your Special Benefit to make sure you’re still eligible and getting the right amount.
We need to know about changes that could reduce, increase or stop your Special Benefit payment.
There are rules about when you can get your Special Benefit when you travel outside Australia.
How much you or your partner get paid affects your payment. We need to know what you both get paid so we can pay you the right amount.
If you get Special Benefit and you’re Age Pension age, you can apply to transfer to Age Pension.
