Carer Adjustment Payment

A one-off payment to support families in financial hardship after a catastrophic event affecting a child younger than 7.

This payment is for you if you give full time care to a child younger than 7 who has been affected by a catastrophic event. Catastrophic events include things like:

  • childhood stroke
  • diagnosis of a severe medical condition, such as childhood cancer
  • car accident or other serious accidents.

To get this payment you will need to provide suitable evidence, such as a doctor’s report.

The event must have caused a significant change to your caring circumstances and resulted in financial hardship.
