How to claim

Complete the following steps to claim assistance with ABSTUDY masters and doctorate compulsory course fees. Before you start, check if you can get it.

To get this help, you must choose the up-front payment option when you enrol in your course.

You also need to send us your written request before the due date. The due date is either:

  • your university’s census date
  • the earlier date set by your provider.

You must also provide the original fee statement or tax invoice statement which shows one of the following:

  • your payment due date
  • receipt(s) showing that you have paid the tuition fees.

If you’re applying after the due date you must provide both your Commonwealth Assistance Notice and HELP Statement from the Australian Taxation Office.

Centrelink ABSTUDY line

Use this line if you get or are claiming ABSTUDY. Help for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and apprentices with ABSTUDY, Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.

Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm
