Getting a SmartCard for enhanced Income Management in the Northern Territory

You can access your enhanced Income Management account with a SmartCard.

Getting a personalised SmartCard

If you are new to enhanced Income Management, you will get a personalised SmartCard in the mail.

When you get your personalised SmartCard, you need to activate it. Follow the instructions included with your personalised SmartCard.

Getting a temporary SmartCard

You can access a temporary SmartCard if:

  • your SmartCard is lost, stolen or damaged
  • you are waiting for your personalised SmartCard to arrive in the mail
  • you want to swap your Cashless Debit Card for a SmartCard.

You can get a temporary SmartCard or TCU SmartCard from:

  • any service centre in the NT
  • an agent in the NT, except Umbakumba
  • a TCU branch, if you are a TCU customer.

If you go to a service centre

You can get a temporary SmartCard or TCU SmartCard from any service centre in the NT. We will activate it for you. You can use it straight away.

You will get a personalised SmartCard in the mail. You will use your temporary SmartCard until you get your personalised SmartCard.

The temporary SmartCard will stop working once you activate your personalised SmartCard.

If you go to a participating agent

You can get a temporary SmartCard from most agents in the NT, except Umbakumba.

If you get your temporary SmartCard or TCU SmartCard from an agent, you need to activate it before it will work.

You will get a new personalised card in the mail. You will use your temporary SmartCard until you get your personalised SmartCard.

The temporary SmartCard will stop working once you activate your personalised SmartCard.

To activate a temporary SmartCard

Call the SmartCard eIM hotline to activate your temporary SmartCard.

To activate a temporary TCU SmartCard

If you are a TCU customer, contact TCU to activate your temporary TCU SmartCard. Find out how to contact TCU on their website.

If you go to a TCU branch

If you are a TCU customer, you can also get a temporary TCU SmartCard from a TCU branch. They will activate it for you. You can use it straight away.

You will get a personalised SmartCard in the mail. You will use your temporary TCU SmartCard until you get your personalised TCU SmartCard.

The temporary SmartCard will stop working once you activate your personalised SmartCard.
