You may get both Parental Leave Pay and Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Bereavement Payment for your child if they die. This doesn’t include Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement.
Parental Leave Pay and FTB Part A
You can get Parental Leave Pay and FTB Part A at the same time. If your child dies, you can continue to get Parental Leave Pay and you will also get 14 weeks of FTB Part A Bereavement Payment.
Parental Leave Pay and FTB Part B
You can’t get Parental Leave Pay and FTB Part B at the same time.
If your child dies and you’re eligible for FTB Part B, you can be paid the FTB Part B Bereavement Payment for up to 14 weeks.
If you choose to get Parental Leave Pay within that 14 week period we won’t be able to pay your FTB Part B on the days you get it.
You can choose to get Parental Leave Pay after the Bereavement Payment as long as you’re not receiving FTB Part B for another child.
