You may be able to get a payment from us if you can’t work or study because you have a short-term illness or injury.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for either:
- JobSeeker Payment if you’re aged 22 or older
- Youth Allowance for job seekers if you’re aged 16 to 21.
If you know your job is ending or your circumstances will change, you can submit your claim up to 13 weeks early. If your circumstances change unexpectedly, submit your claim as soon as possible. Find out more about getting a payment if you can’t work while you’re sick or injured.
