Aged care calculation of your cost of care

If you’re thinking about accessing aged care services, we can tell you how much you can expect to contribute towards your aged care costs.

To do this, you need to give us your (and your partner’s, if applicable) income and asset information. We call these your financial details.

How much you’ll pay depends on:

  • your financial situation
  • the type of care you get
  • how much your aged care provider charges if you choose not to give us your financial details.

You can estimate your costs on the My Aged Care website, or apply for an aged care calculation of your cost of care anytime.

We may already have your financial details to work out how much you’ll pay. If we don’t have this information or if your details are not current, you may need to provide your financial details to us or update the details for you and your partner, if applicable.

Find out more on what you may need to provide on the supporting documents page.

If you get a DVA payment

If you’re receiving a means tested income support payment from Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), you’ll need to call the DVA general enquiries line to discuss your aged care costs.
