Add your COVID-19 certificates to a digital wallet

How to add your COVID-19 digital certificate and International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate to your device for easy storage, and how to update your proof.

After you’ve had all required COVID-19 vaccinations, you’ll be able to get your COVID-19 digital certificate and International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate. Once they’re available, you can add them to your digital wallet. This is either your Apple Wallet or Google Pay.

How you add your certificates to your digital wallet depends on whether you’re eligible for Medicare or not.

If your vaccination details change, remember you need to update your proof in your digital wallet.

If you’re eligible for Medicare

You can add your COVID-19 certificates to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay using either:

  • the Express Plus Medicare mobile app
  • your Medicare online account through myGov using a browser on your device.

COVID-19 digital certificate

If you’re using the Express Plus Medicare mobile app:

  1. Select Proof of vaccinations from Services.
  2. Select View history.
  3. Select your name, then View COVID-19 digital certificate.
  4. Select either Add to Apple Wallet or Save to phone for Google Pay.

If you’re using your Medicare online account through myGov:

  1. Sign in to your myGov account using a browser on your device.
  2. Select Medicare.
  3. Select View proof in Proof of vaccinations.
  4. Select View history.
  5. Select your name.
  6. Select either Add to Apple Wallet or Save to phone for Google Pay.

If you’re using an iOS device, you can use the Safari or Chrome browsers. If you’re using an Android device, you need to use the Chrome browser.

International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate

If you’re using the Express Plus Medicare mobile app:

  1. Select Proof of vaccinations from Services.
  2. Select Request a certificate.
  3. Select your name, then Next.
  4. Follow the steps to verify your vaccinations and passport details.
  5. Select either Add to Apple Wallet or Save to phone for Google Pay.

If you’re using your Medicare online account through myGov:

  1. Sign in to your myGov account using a browser on your device.
  2. Select Medicare.
  3. Select View proof in Proof of vaccinations.
  4. Select Request a certificate.
  5. Select your name, then Next.
  6. Follow the steps to verify your vaccinations and passport details.
  7. Select either Add to Apple Wallet or Save to phone for Google Pay.

If you’re using an iOS device, you’re software must be iOS 6.0 or higher and can use either Safari or Chrome browsers. If you’re using an Android device, your software must be Android 9 or higher and need to use the Chrome browser.

If you’re not eligible for Medicare

You can add your COVID-19 digital certificate to your digital wallet using the Individual Healthcare Identifiers service (IHI service) through myGov.

If you’re using the IHI service through myGov:

  1. Sign in to your myGov account using a browser on your device.
  2. Select Individual Healthcare Identifiers service.
  3. Select View immunisation history on the Immunisation history tile.
  4. Select either Add to Apple Wallet or Save to phone for Google Pay.

If you’re using an iOS device, you can use either the Safari or Chrome browsers. If you’re using an Android device, you need to use the Chrome browser.

If you need to update your proof in your digital wallet

If your vaccination details change, you need to save an updated certificate to your digital wallet.

To do this, delete the old certificate from your wallet first. Then, follow the same steps for adding a certificate to your wallet to save your updated certificate.
