Since 2015, we’ve been supporting the Norfolk Island community through tailored services that help residents access information, payments and support.
In the past, Norfolk Island’s remote location made it difficult for residents to access government services. Limited internet connectivity and the cost of contacting mainland service centres created additional challenges for many customers.
Thanks to the introduction of satellite internet technology, reliable internet access is now available. Last year, we set up a dedicated mainland office to support residents via phone appointments, ensuring they can access essential services without extra costs.
These improvements have helped us bridge the service delivery gap, making it easier for residents to connect with us and access support when they need it.
Norfolk Island has also benefited from visits by specialist staff, including Aged Care Specialist Officers and Financial Information Service Officers, providing information and support on aged care, pensions, superannuation and digital services.
Specialist staff have maintained connections with local partners and regular check-ins help ensure services are responsive to community needs.
Together, these efforts are helping Norfolk Island residents access the information, services and support they need to get on with their lives.
