Students, working in the semester break may affect your payment

Published: 17 November 2025

If you’re a student or apprentice starting work or working extra hours in the semester break, you need to report your gross employment income.

Your gross employment income is the amount you get before tax and other deductions. You can find your gross amount on your payslip.

If you don’t report your income correctly, we may overpay you and you’ll have to pay the money back.

You need to report how much money you make so we can pay you the right amount.
