Setting up your healthcare organisation’s access to the HI Service

How healthcare provider organisations set up their access to the Healthcare Identifiers (HI) Service and My Health Record.

To set up your organisation’s access to healthcare identifiers and My Health Records, you need to get:

  • software for the HI Service and My Health Record
  • a Services Australia Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) organisation certificate
  • a National Authentication Service for Health (NASH) PKI organisation certificate.

You also need to link the Healthcare Provider Identifier-Individual (HPI-I) for each individual healthcare provider working for your organisation in the HI Service.

This makes sure they show as working at your organisation in the Healthcare Provider Directory.

You may have contracted service providers who need to access the HI Service and My Health Record on your organisation’s behalf.

If you do, you’ll need to link their identifier to your organisation first before they can. You’ll need to contact them to get their HI Service registration number.
