Set up a debt repayment plan before you do your tax return

If you have a Centrelink debt and aren’t getting a payment from us, we may use your tax refund to repay it.

For most people, we won’t use your tax refund to repay a debt if you’re getting a payment from us.

If you’re not getting a payment from us, setting up a repayment plan and making regular repayments before lodging your tax return can help at tax time.

If you get Family Tax Benefit or Child Care Subsidy, we may still use your tax refund to repay a debt, even if you have set up a repayment plan.
