Rent and accommodation types for Rent Assistance

If you get a payment from us and pay rent to live in a house or other accommodation, you may be eligible for Rent Assistance.

Rent Assistance is a regular extra payment you’ll get automatically if you pay rent and get certain payments from us.

To be eligible for Rent Assistance, you must also be paying one of the following accommodation costs:

  • rent
  • fees in a retirement village
  • fees in an over 55’s village or lifestyle park
  • lodging
  • board and lodging
  • site or mooring fees.

If you pay rent to live in a house a state or territory housing authority own or manage, you’re not eligible for Rent Assistance.
