Protect your personal information and stay safe when separating

If you need to leave a relationship, there’s steps you can take to protect your privacy and separate safely. There’s also support and services if you need them.

You need to update your information with Medicare, Centrelink, and Child Support. This helps you stay safe.

You may do any of the following:

  • change passwords and PINs for myGov and other services
  • cancel arrangements that allow others to act on your behalf
  • update your relationship status before updating other personal details
  • update your Medicare and My Health records
  • apply for child support
  • secure your personal identity documents.
