Parental Leave Pay privacy notice for customers

This privacy notice outlines how we manage personal information in relation to Parental Leave Pay and the Paid Parental Leave Superannuation Contribution (PPLSC).

What we collect

We collect information about:

  • you, your partner and your children
  • your employer.

This includes:

  • your name, date of birth, tax file number (TFN) and other identity details
  • contact details such as your address
  • your eligibility for Parental Leave Pay and the PPLSC.

Why we collect this information

We collect your personal information to assess your eligibility for Parental Leave Pay and the PPLSC. We also collect it to identify when you may not be eligible and have been overpaid.

If you don’t provide your personal information, we may not be able to assess your eligibility for Parental Leave Pay and the PPLSC.

How we’re authorised to collect your information

We collect, use and disclose your personal information in line with the:

  • Paid Parental Leave Act 2010
  • Privacy Act 1988
  • Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015.

Who we may share your information with

If you receive Parental Leave Pay, we will disclose the following information to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO):

  • your name, your date of birth and the TFN you provided us
  • your address
  • your Centrelink Reference Number (CRN)
  • your first Parental Leave Pay payment date for the financial year
  • the gross amount of Parental Leave Pay you received in the financial year.

This is so the ATO can locate your record to calculate and pay your PPLSC and, if needed, raise a debt for recovery. If you don’t provide your personal information, the ATO may not be able to calculate and pay your PPLSC.

You can read more about the Paid parental leave superannuation contribution data-matching program protocol on the ATO website.
