Parental Leave Pay days increasing from 1 July 2026

Published: 6 April 2026

Families can get 130 days of Parental Leave Pay for a child born or adopted from 1 July 2026.

From 1 July 2026 Parental Leave Pay will be 130 days. That is 26 weeks, based on a 5-day work week.

This is an increase from the current amount of 120 days.

If families make their claim before July, their Parental Leave Pay balance will show as 120 days.

Once families give us proof their child was born or entered their care from 1 July 2026, we’ll add an extra 10 days to their balance.

There are also changes to the number of days that will be reserved for the other parent.
