You, your authorised third party representative, or the compensation payer can request a Notice of past benefits. You’ll need to complete a Medicare Compensation Recovery Notice of past benefits request (MO026) and send it to us.
It’s preferred that you only request a Notice of past benefits if your claim has settled or is expected to settle within the following 6-month period. Requests can be made earlier if you’ve made a claim for personal injury in writing to a compensation payer or insurer.
We’ll add up each Medicare benefit related to your illness or injury. The total on the notice is the amount we will recover from your compensation.
We may write to the compensation payer to tell them:
- about the services that are relevant to your claim
- the total amount of benefits and subsidies we’ll recover.
If we do write to the compensation payer, we’ll also send a copy of this letter to you.
The Notice of past benefits is valid for 6 months. We’ll use it if your claim is finalised within 6 months of the date of issue.
