It’s not too late to claim ABSTUDY for 2026

Published: 1 November 2026

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students can still claim ABSTUDY for 2026.

If you haven’t claimed ABSTUDY this year, you still have time. You have until 31 December 2026 to make your claim.

Parents and guardians will need to claim for students under 16. Students 16 and over or independent can claim themselves.

ABSTUDY may help high school students living at home or away from home with:

  • school fees
  • boarding fees
  • living costs
  • travel costs
  • uniforms
  • books and stationery.

Find out which payments you or your child can get by calling the Centrelink ABSTUDY line.
