How much you can get

The amount of Sickness Allowance you can get depends on your income and assets.

Sickness Allowance closed to new claims on 20 March 2020. If you’re sick or injured and can’t do your usual work or study you can apply for JobSeeker Payment.

We will reduce the rates below depending on the income and assets you have.

We update rates on 20 March and 20 September each year. The table is a guide only.

Single with no children $559.00
Single with dependent children $604.70
Single, 60 years or older but under Age Pension age, after 9 months of regular payment $604.70
Partnered $504.70 each
You’ll also get Coronavirus Supplement from late April 2020. We’ll pay this as part of your regular payment. You may also get an Economic Support Payment. We’ll pay this into your bank account automatically.


We regularly review your circumstances to make sure you get the right amount. If your circumstances change, this may affect your payment.
